Are we transforming?

As a collective, we explored the theme of metamorphosis, developing an interdisciplinary performance presented in August 2021. The performance, staged in a remote mountain location, faced challenges of vastness and weather exposure.

In geology, metamorphosis refers to the transformation of one rock type into another, such as serpentinite, through tectonic shifts and mountain formation. The art project addressed transformation, nature, boundaries, and the body. Through collaboration, diverse perspectives merged, creating a complex and layered experience.

The performance takes place outside of usual rooms. Surrounded by serpentinite rock below the Fuorcla Champatsch in Scuol, Lower Engadine, we perform in the alpine space.

Can we be unique together?

In Metamorphose, we reflect on the human body and its connection to nature through meditation, photography, dance, and sound. Exploring change and transience, the concept of metamorphosis unfolds with the visitors. A guided walking meditation leads to Fuorcla Champatsch, where performers and sound artists invite participants to experience space anew—its boundaries, the in-between, and the limitless interplay between body and surroundings.

VIDEO

The video was created using various elements, including dance, music, stone, and the surrounding environment. The project was first showcased for one week during the summer at Nairs. Later, it was presented in Zurich and at the Young Urban Performance Festival in Osnabrück.

guided walking meditation

During the exhibition in Nairs in the summer a guided walking meditation will bring people physically and mentally to Fuorcla Champatsch. Text fragments accompanied the visitors to the top to reflect their own experience. Along the way the stones appear and grow more and more until you are at the top surrounded by serpentinite rock below the Fuorcla Champatsch.
