The Luststreifen Film Festival Basel is an alternative, independent film festival focusing on politics, art, diversity, equality and gender issues. Since 2006, the Luststreifen has been dedicated to the cultural-political mission of promoting debate and diversity. The organisers are specifically looking for films that work against exclusion, discrimination, under- or misrepresentation and that address aesthetic modes of representation, diverse bodies and fluid ideas of sexuality and queerness.

Breaking rigid boundaries
For two years, the visual concept and the holistic presentation of the festival were monitored and developed. These tasks included the Art Direction, Concept & Identity, the design of different means of communication, merchandising, web design as well as web development / coding. The exploration of aesthetic modes of representation, diverse bodies and fluid ideas were realised graphically.
new ways of collaboration and inclusion in discourse
The concept was to free ourselves as designers from fixed ideas, so every year a photographer was commissioned to interpret words figuratively and create an artistic series. Based on certain rules that had to be respected, the imaginative creations that were produced were accepted within these boundaries. This gave the opportunity to work with renowned female artists, because they had a free hand in implementing their visions.
Identity
An identity was created that functions over several years. The fluid sign evolved into a symbol that was also used for merchandising.
