Karla Black (*1972) creates large-scale works from everyday materials like plaster, cellophane, and make-up. Her art explores materiality, space, and themes of femininity, memory, and the subconscious. By using cosmetics and domestic items, she challenges stereotypes and adds layers of meaning. Her work balances fragility and strength, inviting viewers to engage with its sensual and conceptual dimensions.

COLLABORATION
In collaboration with Karla Black and the Bechtler Foundation, the visual concept for the poster and invitation card for her exhibition was developed. The typography echoes the physicality of her materials, referencing the use of cosmetics and powders. The design also plays with the green artwork, previously shown in another exhibition, now presented in pink at the Bechtler Foundation. This unexpected color change surprises viewers and is emphasized by pink lettering on the invitation card, reinforcing the theme of visual deception.
