Embodied Emptiness

Vacant space in Zurich is rare. When it is, it's often for a short period of time before a building is renovated or demolished. Temporary vacant spaces allow for a lot of creativity – lack of time to plan something, and so one is constantly in the now and you're constantly planning and reacting in the moment. Quality is in the process.

PROJECT Bremgarten

The flat on the Bremgartenstrasse in Zurich was empty for 3 months. We rearranged the premises and used the empty flat as a platform to give cultural workers a space to be active.

PROGRAMM Bremgarten

The programme included art performance, act paint, book and plant exchange, hairdressing in the evening, concerts, ceramics workshops, yoga, pop-up restaurant on weekends, a liquor bar, a reading and an exhibition that has constantly changed over time.

PROJECT MARTA

The flat on Martastrasse in Zurich was empty for 2 months. We reused the premises and used the empty flat as a platform to give cultural workers a space to be active. The programme included yoga, a therapy room, weekly lunch, batik workshop, flea market, pasta workshop, cinema nights, pop-up restaurant and a wall painting that changed constantly over time.
